We will aim to provide 3,000 doctors from all clinical specialities to help national health organisations manage winter crisis in either the northern or southern hemispheres during any winter crisis.
- Northern hemisphere solution covers the period from 01 November to 01 March.
- Southern hemisphere solution covers the period from 01 May to 01 September.
This is a 24-hour service, with 3,000 doctors online at all times, offering clinical advice and issuing ePrescriptions or ordering laboratory tests.
Note that though this service offers 3,000 doctors, the actual number of doctors deployed in a winter crisis solution is 9,000. Thus, there will be 3 x 8-hour shifts of doctors online every day. Each shift working for 8-hours to comply with the European Working Time Directive.
